The Basics of Orchid Propagation - What You Need to Know!

Orchids are beautiful flowers grow. Would not it be rewarding if you can produce the same kind of a single parent orchid orchids through the expansion. Of course, this is no easy task. And that's the main reason for writing this article, so I can share whatever knowledge I have on this topic. Now, let us try to put in proper perspective knowing the tasks involved in multiplying our favorite types of orchids.

I did not know that there are several ways of propagating my orchids. In the beginning, I knew only one very simple way, which I actually learned from my mother and grandmother. Just as little Backgrounder about myself, my mom and grandmother are real orchid enthusiasts. I must say that mine was acquired over many years that I was exposed to their orchid related activities. I will not see them spending so much time cutting, re-potting and produce many of these plants. In any case, my interest came when I was already married and did not seem to have a lot to do with my time of unemployment. That's when I remembered, why not do what my mom used to do and enjoy doing ... growing orchids.

So much for nostalgia, going back in a simple way ofof propagating the of orchids ,I only used as a distribution method . It's pretty simple, every once in awhile, I'll check out the new roots and new bulbs that will naturally grow. And then I cut it, or you, depending on the number that I see, using sterilized pruning shears. I also used rubber gloves to make sure that I do not contaminate my precious baby orchids. Then, I put in a new and the potting mixture and water them generously. Patience is necessary, because after planting them, I'll wait for a new plant in bloom.

until later, I learned that there are other ways of producing more than one orchid plant. Here is what is known among enthusiasts as the bulbs back method. Do not be intimidated by the word. Back bulbs simply means that the older stems are shed off their leaves. In doing so, you just need to cut this off from the original plant and clean it of any dead leaves. Prepare a plastic bag with about 5cm. sphagnum moss and then bury the bulbs about ¼ depth. It is best to do this in batches, so put a few of these stems together and follow the steps above. You must seal the bag and put it into a warm room with bright diffused light. You will be surprised that it comes from 2-3 months new growth will show off. You then need to put in a shallow dish using a layer of sphagnum moss. You have to wait several months, but make sure you put them in diffused lighting. After this time, You May Now transplant them individually using potting assigned to each.

These are sure ways that will help you get started with orchids spread. Did you learn enough information to ask you to go out and check your orchid, if there are any indications that it is ready to produce new life? Come, enjoy the sun and the morning breeze and get one of those beautiful plants from your collection and start sharing these new buds. This could be the start of the new collection, or perhaps as a gift a friend, whose birthday is just around the corner.
